Note: Water Pearl Beads have been very popular in Netherlands and throughout Europe. They have been proven to work well with orchids! Care for the orchid is a little different than with orchids in ceramic, very minimal at that. Water Pearl Beads are environmentally safe and nontoxic, just like other potting mediums for orchids!

Medium light

Light water : The water pearls provide the needed moisture for the orchid. Minimal care is needed to keep this orchid looking its best. Over time, the pearls will begin to shrink. When this happens, carefully angle the glass and add about a ¼ cup of water to the pearl beads. The pearls will absorb the water and return to their full size in about 4-6 hours. Once the pearls are full size, you may need to push the orchid down into the pearls until the roots are fully covered. It’s important to NOT OVER WATER the orchid. Check the orchid every 14 – 20 days. Only add water when to the pearls when they have constricted.

	Low light: Plants in this category need little light. They like a northern exposure and can survive with just fluorescent lighting. For outdoor use Low Light = Shade.

	Medium light: Plants in this category like diffused or moderate lighting. They do well in a bright western or moderate eastern exposure. For outdoor use Medium Light = Partial Shade.

	Bright light: Plants in this category need full sun. They prefer a southern or very bright eastern exposure. Windows with no curtains and blinds would be ideal. For outdoor use Bright Light = Full Sun.

	Light water: Plants in this category should completely dry out but not to the point where the soil shrinks from the sides of the pot.

	Moderate water: Plants in this category should slightly dry out . Water when top 1-2 inches of soil is dry.

	Generous water: Plants in this category prefer moist soil and benefit from high humidity. Water when the top of the soil starts to dry out. Be careful not to overwater and do not let plants sit in saucers of water for a long period of time.
